With this variety of business information, you can define your direct mail, telemarketing and direct sales efforts. Depending on the level of analysis you are conducting, choose from the following:

  • Market Potential – Define a trade area, then discover new business opportunities!
  • Business Targeting – Identify and locate your competitors. Create effective B2B lists for refined B2B prospecting by using a variety of business list attribute filters.


Market Focus Customer Analysis

Market Focus Customer Analysis provides an easy method for discovering your Market Penetration. Here's how it works: first upload your business file (one that has been previously matched to Nielsen Business-Facts with assigned Business IDs) and then process the Market Penetration report.

Note: If you do not have a file appended with Business IDs, Nielsen can match your business file in-house. Please contact your Nielsen representative or call 1−800−234−5973 for pricing and options for matching your business file.

Market Penetration Report

This report shows you how well you are penetrating existing or potential markets, and where your defined businesses are located. The report contains number and % of businesses, percent penetration and an index of penetration relative to the total market area.

Market Potential

Define your trade area and conduct a complete analysis with comprehensive reports and maps. Trade areas can be defined by a variety of geography options. Once your area has been created, filter the list to receive the business information you need.

Filters

Refine your business list by defining filter criteria, including: NAICS code, local number of employees, local sales volume, branch, headquarters, subsidiary, company linkage and franchise/brand codes.

Reports

Choose from the following standard reports for your business analysis:

  • New Market Report
    Discover the best geographic areas for B2B prospecting! Provide any combination of selection criteria (NAICS name, NAICS number, size, business type) and a base geography (i.e. US, State, County) and receive a listing of businesses matching the selected NAICS code, with number of businesses, total number of businesses in the market, percent market penetration and market index.

  • Market Analysis Summary Report
    After defining your market using business filtering, and the area you want to analyze using radii, polygons or census/postal geographies, you can use this report to gain an understanding of your market. The report shows number of businesses, refined businesses as a percent of the market total, total and average number of employees and total and average sales.

  • Cross Tabulation Summary Report
    Create a cross-tab report using a variety of business variables for any trade area you define. Look at number of employees by number of businesses, NAICS codes by Total Sales, etc. You pick the information you want to cross-tab, and Nielsen BusinessPoint does the rest!

  • Market Comparison Report – Residential   
    This report provides business counts by NAICS code for your area of analysis compared to a base area. Also shown for both the Analysis and the Base areas is a column for Households per Business, which tells you the level of business saturation in the market your are investigating.
Maps
You can obtain a thematically shaded map for any radius or polygon you define. Just select Market Potential, then Radius or Polygon. Your theme choices include local or total employees, local or total sales and number of businesses. Also, if you are a Nielsen BusinessPoint subscriber, you have the option to adjust map features.

Business Targeting – Identify and Locate Your Competitors

Nielsen BusinessPoint is an ideal tool for identifying and locating who your competitors are in any market or trade area. Easily define and retrieve comprehensive competitor lists by following these easy steps:

  1. Define your area from any standard geography, polygon or radius.
  2. Filter the business list by one or more of the following criteria:

    • Industry Type filters, such as NAICS Code
    • Size of Business indicators:
      • Number of Employees
      • Annual Sales
    • Company Details:
      • Home Based Business indicator
      • Presence of Contact Name on the record
    • Business Affiliation:
      • Location Type
      • Ultimate Site – one record per location option
      • Franchise/Brand codes
      • Corporate Linkage
      • Company Name

    • Review the filtered business list count and determine whether or not you wish to refine your selection or proceed with the order.
    • You have the option of selecting from detailed, economy, spatial or mailing list formats. Note: The spatial format is ideal to use with mapping software to generate competition maps showing the proximity of your competitors to your business locations.
    • Please note: Nielsen BusinessPoint has a limit of under 1,000,000 records processed in any one session. You can either reduce the number of records and process your B2B list request in stages, or, contact your Nielsen Sales Representative about processing your order off-line as a custom project.
